A 45-year-old lifeguard has reportedly been assaulted by 17 juveniles in Philadelphia, according to CBS Philadelphia.
The incident occurred at around 7:15 p.m. Monday evening, police say.
Originally, the altercation started with just two people, but led to 17 minors, both boys and girls included, assaulting the lifeguard at Vogt Playground.
The lifeguard was treated at the hospital for face and ear injuries.
The Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation released this statement: “The safety of our staff and patrons is always a top priority for Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. We are deeply disturbed by the incident that took place at Vogt Recreation Center pool, and are working closely with the Police Department to share information and coordinate.”
