Federal agents say that they have searched the home of former Chicago Alderman Michael Zalewski in their ongoing investigation into Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
The agents reportedly executed a search warrant for the home, searching for records related to Madigan, who was a longtime political ally of Zalewski, back in May. The search had not been been disclosed until recently.
Around the same time, authorities raided the home of Kevin Quinn, a Madigan operative whose brother is alderman of Madigan’s 13th Ward power base. The federal raids involving Zalewski and Quinn come as corruption cases are reverberating through Chicago and City Hall. Alderman Ed Burke, who was the longest-serving alderman in the city’s history, recently pleaded not guilty to racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion charges.
