Australian Teen Accused of Ramming Police Car Says He Could Not See Out of the Windshield Due to Cannabis Smoke

A teenager from Melbourne, Australia, who has been accused of ramming into a police car, says that he could not see the car because his own vehicle was filled with cannabis smoke.

Benjamin Saurini, 19, stated that he couldn’t see the police vehicle because his car windows had fogged up from smoking cannabis after a session with friends on Friday night. He allegedly took off when he thought he was going to be “jumped” by officers on patrol, but panicked and side-swiped their car, pinning an officer to the car and breaking his leg.

The teenager turned himself in after officials talked to his parents. He has been given 14 different charges in the incident and has been ordered to attend a program where he would be supervised at least once a week and undergo drug education and treatment, particularly for the drug ice.
