Florida Deputy Arrested in Drug Planting Probe After Over 100 People Exonerated 

Former Jackson County, Florida, sheriff’s deputy Zach Wester has been arrested in part of a probe into drug planting.

Wester is accused of planting drugs such as meth onto unsuspecting motorists during traffic stops. He also reportedly circumvented the law enforcement agency’s policies on body camera, altering footage to conceal his crimes. Around 119 people have been exonerated of the crimes.

Wester, 26, has been charged with racketeering, official misconduct, fabricating evidence, possession of a controlled substance and false imprisonment. He was also charged with misdemeanor charges of perjury, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
