President Trump on Sunday said teams from the U.S. and North Korea will get together in the coming weeks to restart nuclear negotiations and appeared to invite leader Kim Jong Un to the White House.
“We are going to have teams, they are going to meet over the next weeks, they are going to start a process, and we will see what happens,” Trump told reporters after his 50-minute long meeting with Kim at the DMZ.
Trump is now the first sitting president to cross into North Korea at the contested border with South Korea. He also said he’s open to the possibility of Kim coming to America. Asked by reporters if he made an offer to Kim to visit the White House, Trump said, “I would certainly extend the invite.”
