The country of Uganda has confirmed their first Ebola case in the latest outbreak of the disease.
The virus reportedly infected a five-year-old boy in a border town between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This marks the first time that the disease has left the DRC, in what has become the second worst outbreak in recorded history.
The outbreak has infected at least 2,062 people since it began in late July and killed 1,390 people, according to Congo’s health ministry. These numbers are believed to be short of the actual total, as many local people have avoided reporting cases and tried to treat the sick themselves.
