A search operation was launched after a tourist in pink pajamas, possibly an American teenager, fell off a cruise ship in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, according to passengers.
The Norwegian Epic was due to dock in Majorca early Saturday but instead announced it was turning around after getting “good evidence” the girl had gone overboard. The girl’s parents alerted the crew that she was missing.
The cruise ship then spent the day with passengers helping the desperate search along with rescue choppers and boats. A distress warning was activated to all navigators in the area.
A passenger said that the crew eventually gave up on the search, skipping the planned stop in the Balearic Islands and instead moved on to Barcelona.
