The White House issued a statement Thursday, saying that their “position has not changed” on Mexico tariffs.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that they are moving forward with the plan to begin imposing a 5% tariff on Monday. Bloomberg had reported earlier today that the White House was considering delaying the tariffs. A White House official also told NBC News that “significant progress is being made” in negotiations with Mexico, but did not give any indication on whether a deal would be met before the tariffs went into effect.
Talks between Mexico and the U.S. will reportedly resume tonight at 5:30 ET.
