Music legend and 6-time Grammy Award Winner Dr. John has reportedly died after suffering a heart attack.
According to a post to the musician’s Twitter page, Dr. John, whose real name was Malcolm John Rebennack Jr., passed away this morning due to a heart attack. No memorial arrangements have been announced at this time.
Dr. John, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, was known best for his work in the genres of Rock, Blues, and Jazz. He won six Grammy Awards in 1989 for Best Jazz Performance, 1992 for Best Traditional Blues Album, 1996 for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, 2000 for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocal, 2008 for Best Contemporary Blues Album, and in 2013 for Best Blues Album.
He was 77 years old.
