Nickelodeon has approved “Kamp Koral,” a spinoff of the massively popular hit television program “Spongebob Squarepants,” for a 13 episode run. Kamp Koral will serve as a prequel for the long-running children’s series, according to TV Line.
The new program will feature “10-year-old SpongeBob and his pals as the ‘spend the summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest,” according to an announcement from Nickelodeon.
The original “Spongebob” marks 20 years on the air this July. Its creator, Stephen Hillenburg, died in 2018 from ALS at 57.
