A bill has been signed into law by Colorado Governor Polis that expands locations for undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.
Under the law, people in the country illegally will have more options to obtain driver’s licenses. Farming, dairy, and other business groups in the state reportedly backed the initiative, saying it would make it easier for their employees to drive to work and operate machinery on the job.
The special licenses for undocumented immigrants, which are paid for by the applicants’ fees, were first granted in 2014. Colorado is one of 12 states to offer the licenses.
