Senate Republicans say that they will quickly reject any Articles of Impeachment against President Trump that are brought by the House.
If the House were to pass Articles of Impeachment, Majority Leader McConnell would be required to act on them. This would require 67 votes or a two-thirds majority to convict the president, but he and the rest of the GOP Senate leaders would be able to set the rules of the proceedings and could ensure a brief trial.
“I think it would be disposed of very quickly,” said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham. Senator Cornyn also stated that he believes that nothing would come from any article passed by the House.
