Self-Driving Trucks to Begin Carrying Mail Between Texas and Arizona

Self-driving trucks are to begin a mail delivery test for the USPS between Phoenix, Arizona, and Dallas, Texas.

A safety driver will be on-board during the travels to ensure that nothing goes wrong with the trucks and an engineer will be along for the ride as well. The trucks, made in conjunction with the company TuSimple, will ride along major highways during their route.

The goal of the program is to eliminate the need for a driver, freeing shippers and freight-haulers from the constraints of a worsening driver shortage.
