BREAKING: Sweden Asks for Julian Assange to Be Held on Suspicion of Rape

Sweden has filed an official request that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange be held in Britain in connection with a rape case in Sweden, according to Fox News.

The step is a first procedural step towards a possible request for extradition to Sweden for Assange, who is also being requested in the United States on charges for conspiring to hack into a Pentagon computer.

When Assange was taken into custody in Britain, Sweden announced it was reopening a case against Assange for a possible assault in 2010. They had suspended their investigation as Assange was seeking refuge at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
