Subtropical Storm Andrea has reportedly formed in the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the first named storm of 2019.
The National Hurricane Center is expected to issue their first advisory on the storm starting Monday night. The storm is not expected to impact the United States, as models have the storm turning away into the open ocean.
The storm’s formation earlier than normal, since the official start of the 2019 Atlantic Storm season isn’t until June 1, but storms can and do form outside of the season. NOAA will issue its 2019 Atlantic hurricane season forecast later this week.
