A commercial jet carrying 136 passengers went down in the St. Johns River near NAS Jacksonville on Friday, sources confirmed to a local TV station.
There were no reports of any deaths, sources said. The plane was said to be a 737 airplane. Seven crew members were on board. According to a NAS Jacksonville spokesperson, the plane appears to have skidded off the airport runway while trying to land ending up in the St. Johns River. Jacksonville mayor says, “all lives accounted for. The plane originated at Guantanamo Bay and was headed to Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
Twenty-one people have been taken to the hospital for observation. All in good condition. Two dogs and a cat are unaccounted for and presumed dead.
