New details regarding the shooter and the events leading up to the shooting at the University of North Carolina Charlotte have been revealed.
The shooter had reportedly been influenced by the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and had “researched it” at length before opening fire yesterday. He also brought “at least 10 magazines” to the classroom and had targeted it knowing that it was a large class with many students.
The two who were killed in the shooting were Ellis R. Parlier, 19, of Midland, N.C., and Mr. Howell, 21, of Waynesville, N.C. Howell reportedly gave his trying to tackle the shooter, and Chief Kerr Putney of the Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police stated that the shooting could have been worse, if not for Howell’s heroic actions, according to The New York Times.
Three other students remain in the hospital and are expected to survive after undergoing surgery. A fourth has been released from the hospital.
