UPDATE: Singleton’s family says that he has passed “peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends” after being taken off life support.
Iconic director John Singleton will reportedly been taken off life support by his family Monday after suffering a stroke two weeks ago.
Singleton had been hospitalized in the ICU since the stroke, and reportedly suffered another “major stroke” last week. He has reportedly been in a coma since that second stroke.
The 51-year-old directed both “Boyz in the Hood” and ″Poetic Justice,” as well as several other films. He was the first African American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director.
