A large flightless bird called a cassowary killed a man on a farm near Gainesville, Florida, after he fell.
The bird attacked the man at the property, where the bird and other wildlife are held. The man sustained serious injuries and later died at a hospital.
The victim has been identified as 75-year-old Marvin Halos. He owned and lived on the property with the bird.
According to Wikipedia, “cassowaries have a reputation in folklore for being dangerous to people and domestic animals.” It is also noted that a 2003 study revealed that of 221 known cassowary attacks, 150 had been against humans
