A man in South Carolina has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to hire the KKK to kill his black neighbor.
Brandon Lecroy, 26, pleaded guilty last year to the murder-for-hire plot after an undercover FBI agent posing as a KKK member arrested him. He had alleged that his neighbor would come onto his property and pick fights and ask for food or to use the phone. The man then claims that police would do nothing about it, and that is why he went towards the hit.
Lecroy used racist language and referred to violent KKK symbols in secretly-recorded tapes with law enforcement, U.S. Attorney William Watkins said. The ten year sentence is the maximum for a hate crime charge.
