Ohio Governor DeWine has signed the state’s “Heartbeat Bill” into law, banning most forms of abortion.
The law will ban abortions at the point a fetal heartbeat can be detected. That bans the practice as early as five or six weeks into a pregnancy, before many women know they’re pregnant. The bill does provide exceptions to save the lives of women, but do not provide exceptions for rape or incest.
The ACLU, Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice groups promised to sue if the “Heartbeat Bill” became law.
