Texas Judge Accidentally Resigns Less Than 3 Months on the Job

Harris County, Texas, judge Bill McLeod reportedly accidentally resigned Monday, less than three months after he was elected.

McLeod made the mistake after discussing his plans to run for the Supreme Court of Texas, which is technically a resignation under the Texas Constitution. County Attorney Vince Ryan’s office will present the matter to county commissioners during next Monday’s meeting, with McLeod saying that he should be allowed to keep his position.

McLeod was elected with more than half of Harris County voters’ support last November.
