Measles Outbreak Second Largest Since Disease was Eliminated in 2000, Health Officials Say

The measles outbreak that has spread to 15 states across the U.S. is reportedly the second largest since the disease was eliminated in 2000.

A total of 387 individual cases of measles have been confirmed in 15 states from Jan. 1 to March 28, according to the CDC. The highest number of reports came in 2014, when 667 cases of the highly contagious disease were reported in the year.

The states with reported cases currently are Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
