“Joe Exotic,” a former Oklahoma gubernatorial candidate, has been found guilty in a murder-for-hire plot.
Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, 56, was accused of trying to arrange the killing of Florida animal sanctuary founder Carole Baskin, who criticized his treatment of animals. He reportedly offered $100,000 to an undercover FBI agent to kill Baskin. That conversation was recorded, however Passage’s lawyers tried to make the case that he was not being serious.
Passage was also found guilty in the killings of five tigers and trying to sell tiger cubs. He now faces more than 20 years in prison.
