Police have made an arrest in the death of a New Jersey woman whose body was found floating in a lake last week in a Jersey City park.
Authorities say that 33-year-old Jorge Rios kidnapped and raped a female runner before strangling and drowning her in the Lincoln Park lake. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Sunday that Rios was in custody in connection to the homicide of 45-year-old Carolina Cano. Rios, of Jersey City, was charged with murder, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.
The woman’s body was found on March 24. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide, saying Cano had died from “strangulation and water submersion.”
