A driver in California was killed Saturday after his vehicle went over a cliff at a state park and fell hundreds of feet, officials said.
The California Highway Patrol said in a Facebook post that the incident happened on Ridgecrest Boulevard in Mount Tamalpais State Park, located northwest of San Francisco. A hiker reported that a four-door sedan had driven off the side of the road and crashed about 500 feet below. Emergency crews responded to the area and had to establish a long-line rescue system due to the difficult terrain. Rescuers found the driver dead inside. He was the only person in the vehicle.
