A 26-year-old woman was struck and killed by an SUV after she stepped off of a curb in upper Manhattan, according to local media.
The driver, who was later identified as 27-year-old Tyrik Cooper, sped off, and was latter arrested with vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene, driving without a license and driving while impaired with drugs. He has prior convictions.
The victim, Erica Imbasciani, was reportedly an artist, according to the Daily Mail. She suffered trauma to her head and body and was later pronounced dead.
The driver was arrested after he struck another vehicle after speeding off.
