Former Obama Economic Adviser and Princeton Professor Dies at Age 58

Alan Krueger, a former chief economic adviser to President Obama, has died at the age of 58.

Krueger received a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1987, and also served as the Department of Labor’s chief economist from 1994 to 1995. In 2009, Obama named him chief economist of the Treasury Department and assistant secretary for economic policy. 

He left the federal government in October of 2010 to return to Princeton, before being nominated to be chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, to which he was unanimously confirmed. 

Krueger leaves behind his wife, Lisa Simon, and two children, Benjamin and Sydney. His cause of death is unknown.
