UPDATE: The active shooter calls were reportedly called in after teenagers were popping balloons at Mason Hall. There is no threat, police say.
The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is on lockdown after reports of an active shooter on campus at Mason Hall.
Police rushed to the scene and as of 5 p.m. ET had found no evidence of a shooting, but say the investigation remains ongoing.
At around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, students received an emergency alert from campus officials warning of an “active shooter in Mason Hall.” The University urged students to “run, hide, fight.”
Campus officials say they are also investigating.
According to local media, the nearby Bell Tower Hotel is also on lockdown
