Texas Man Charged with a Felony After Cheating in Fishing Tournament

A Texas man has been charged with a felony after he reportedly cheated during a fishing tournament.

Terry Keith Long of Bridgeport, Texas, is facing a felony fraud charge after his case was reopened after an indictment in November of 2018. He was arrested and taken to jail, but posted $25,000 bond shortly after.

Authorities say that Long snipped the tail of a black largemouth bass that he caught in order to fit it into regulations for keeping caught fish in the Texas lake. On Lake Fork, any black largemouth bass that falls between 16 and 24 inches long must be thrown back into the water, according to TPWD’s local fishing regulations.
