New Zealand attorney general David Parker says the government will ban semi-automatic rifles following two mass shootings at mosques on Friday, according to local media.
As part of his speech at a vigil in Auckland, Parker said, “there is a dimming of enlightenment in many parts of the world … How can it be right for this atrocity to be filmed by the murderer using a go-pro and live-streamed across the world by social media companies? How can that be right? Who should be held accountable for that?”
The comments were made after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that gun laws in the country would change.
