Two separate shootings have been reported at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, according to local media and eyewitnesses. The first of the shootings occurred at the Masajid Al Moor mosque.
A man reportedly entered the mosque during Friday prayers and started shooting. A short time later, shots were reported at a second mosque. There were reportedly at least six dead in the shootings.
Police have warned that a “critical incident” is underway in the city, and witnesses reported hearing dozens of shots ring out. Several people have been seen arriving at hospitals on stretchers.
Police say nearby schools have been locked down due to the incident.
