Former Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Esteban Loaiza has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for drug trafficking.
The former pitcher pleaded guilty to the charges last August in San Diego after he was found with 44 pounds of cocaine. Surveillance revealed Loaiza acting suspiciously in a Mercedes SUV and a drug sniffing dog found a scent on the vehicle after being stopped by police.
Officers also found a remote to a garage door for a townhouse nearby that Loaiza had been seen entering and exiting previously. Police went to the garage and found a Nissan minivan and hidden compartments, where they found the cocaine.
