A judge in Texas has been given a public warning after he reportedly told a jury in a trafficking case that God told him the suspect was innocent.
Jack Robison, a Comal County, Texas, district court judge, reported himself after making the remark. He made the statement during the trial of a woman who was accused of continuous sex trafficking and the sale or purchase of a child.
The judge reportedly told the jury after their decision of guilty that it would be a miscarriage of justice. He later apologized to them, saying “When God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it.” The conviction was declared a mistrial after another judge learned of Robison’s conduct.
