The notorious California serial killer Juan Vallejo Corona has died at the age of 85 due to natural causes, officials say.
Corona was convicted in 1973 of 25 different murders of farm workers, each carrying a life sentence. However, his conviction was appealed, from which he won a new trial, which subsequently again convicted him of the murders. He was denied parole eight times.
Corona was once known as the most prolific serial killer in American history, with the highest number of murders by one person at the time. He would reportedly kill men that saw him or had been hired through his labor contracting business.
