A widespread recall of blood pressure and heart failure medications for their potential cancer risk has been expanded to include more drugs that contain losartan.
The recall is the result of an “impurity” in the drugs that is considered to be a known human carcinogen. The recall is the latest in a growing investigation into a class of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers or ARBs.
Camber Pharmaceuticals Inc. recalled 87 lots of the medication after it was revealed that they contained trace amounts of the impurity. The FDA recommends that those using the medication immediately contact their doctor.
