A female zookeeper has been seriously injured by a 50-year-old rhino at the Jacksonville Zoo in Florida.
The male Southern White Rhinoceros reportedly injured his trainer during a training exercise. She was alert and awake when taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.
The animal never made it out of its enclosure and there was no public safety issue. The rhino was still out on display with its fellow rhinos later in the day.
