A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an early Sunday morning Bourbon Street shooting that killed one woman and injured two others, including the suspect.
Louis Barnes has been booked into jail on counts of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. The 36-year-old woman killed in the shooting appeared to be an innocent bystander. Barnes was reportedly being removed from a Bourbon Street bar by a security guard when Barnes struggled with the guard, stole his gun and started shooting. The shooting happened after 3 a.m. at Willie’s Chicken Shack. The security guard was shot in the neck and is in stable condition. The suspect shot himself in the shoulder, police said.
