A truck driver was taken into custody at the Texas-Mexico border after it was discovered that he was hiding $13 million worth of meth in his frozen strawberry shipment.
The 42-year-old male Mexican citizen was reportedly hauling 906 pounds of methamphetamine in the trailer of his truck. The discovery was made after Customs and Border Patrol referred the truck and trailer for further inspection.
The Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge is a major port of entry for the US-Mexico border, and handles both commercial and passenger vehicles. About 175,000 vehicles cross the bridge in a month, according to Texas officials.
