New details have been uncovered in the ongoing investigation after a woman and three children were found dead in northern Kent County, Michigan.
Authorities found the children, Alaina Rau, 2; Cassidy Rodery, 6; and Kyrie Rodery, 8, and Aubrianne Moore, 28, at a home, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. However, they say now that they do not believe they were shot at the home.
The sheriff’s department says that evidence from the first scene indicates a second, but they have been unable to determine where that may be. Family members says that they believe the woman killed herself and the children, as she had reportedly recently been suffering from mental illness.
Authorities say there are no threats to the public, and no shooter is believed to be on the loose.
“Certainly a horrific thing to be called to and my heart goes out to the families involved here and the community,” the sheriff said. “We’re certainly going to do everything we can to bring this to a quick resolution.”
