A kindergarten student at Pittsburgh’s Faison K-5 elementary school was found with a gun in their backpack.
A fellow student reportedly told a bus driver that he had the gun in his backpack. The driver then confiscated the weapon, giving it to school staff, who turned it over to police.
The school reportedly has metal detectors, but prior to today’s incident, they had only been used to screen adults. The gun is believed to have come from the child’s home, but it is not clear how they obtained it.
