BREAKING: Mandatory Evacuation Ordered in Malibu Neighborhood

UPDATE: Evacuations have also been ordered in Ventura County and Burbank due to the rainfall. These areas were heavily burned during the summer’s wildfires and there is a significant risk of mud and debris flows.

A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for the Malibu West Neighborhood due to extreme flooding and mud flows in the area.

A large amount of debris and mud were seen rushing down streets in the neighborhood, with trees being carried through the raging waters up to 5 feet in the air. Large boulders and trees were seen scattered throughout the flood waters.

Authorities say heavy rainfall is causing the water levels to rise rapidly and are urging residents to quickly leave the area. Shelters are being set up at Pepperdine University and Santa Monica High School.
