Former New York City-based “Top Chef” contestant Fatima Ali has died at the age of 29.
Ali has been in a battle with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma. She had been declared cancer-free last spring, but the cancer returned in September, with doctors giving her only a year to live.
She appeared on the Bravo reality show “Top Chef” on its 15th season. She had most recently appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” where she was surprised with a $50,000 check to help her go visit some of the best restaurants in the world.
