An Indiana school superintendent is facing several charges after she reportedly lied and used her health insurance to get medical care for a sick student.
Casey Smitherman, superintendent of Elwood Community Schools, reportedly visited a child who had strep throat after they had missed several days of school. She then reportedly took him to a clinic where he was refused treatment.
Smitherman then reportedly took the child to another clinic, where she lied about him being her son to get him treatment. “I’m not saying it was right, I’m really sorry. I just was scared for him,” Smitherman said. “I would love to go back to that moment and redo it.”
