A large and far-reaching “baby formula ring” has reportedly been busted in Australia.
The illegal conduct reportedly led to the arrest of at least six individuals, who would reportedly steal baby formula and sell it in illegal Chinese markets. The formula produced in Australia was reportedly viewed as being significantly higher quality than that sold in China legally.
The “lucrative” operation reportedly had been in business for several years, with them selling around $1 million in formula over the last year. Many Australian parents had been complaining in a shortage of formula in recent years, with some supermarkets even going to the lengths of making it an over-the-counter purchase.
