The mother of Canadian politician Gilles Duceppe, the former Bloc Québécois leader, was reportedly found frozen to death outside of her senior living facility in Montreal.

Hélène Rowley, 93, was locked out of the building during an extreme snow storm after a fire alarm has been triggered. Temperatures outside were as low as -20C (-4F). Her body was not discovered until over 7 hours after the fire alarm had been set off.

It appears as though Rowley had heard the fire alarm, but not the announcement that her building was not being evacuated. She left the building through the backdoor and then was unable to come back inside.
