John Coughlin, a champion figure skater for the United States, has reportedly died at the age of 33.

Coughlin’s sister, in a Facebook post late last night, indicated that he took his own life. He had been suspended the day before temporarily pending a grievance. It is not clear what caused the suspension.

A U.S. national pairs champion in 2011 and 2012, Coughlin represented the United States at the world championships during those years.
