Two police officers from Burlington, Vermont, have been disciplined after they reportedly took beer from minors and then drank it later while off duty.
The officers, who have not been identified, were originally placed on administrative leave after the incident was reportedly by their colleagues inside the police department. They ended up receiving a three week suspension without pay and will have probationary service for a year.
“Even beer destined for the sewer must be handled with integrity by police officers,” Police Chief del Pozo said. “The officers who improperly consumed beer confiscated from minors were forthcoming and contrite about what they had done. They understood that their actions were injurious to the reputation of all police officers, and could have cost them their jobs.”
