A Florida Sheriff’s deputy has been forced to resign after sending a toy bomb to his colleague, prompting an evacuation.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputy James Piper resigned after he sent a colleague a toy bomb in a box with the note “boom” inside. The box prompted an entire evacuation of the building, as well as bomb-sniffing dogs being called in to investigate.
Piper originally joined the force in 1982, before leaving in 2015. He was rehired in 2017.
