Soccer star Wayne Rooney, who formerly played for England and Manchester United, was arrested at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on December 16 for public intoxication, according to the BBC.
Rooney was arrested upon his return from a trip to Saudi Arabia. Rooney was assessed a $21 fine, as well as $91 in court costs for the incident, which was classified as a class 4 misdemeanor.
The arrest was just announced today.
Rooney’s spokesman says that his arrest was due to his disorientation from prescription sleeping tablets that he took on the flight.
